Preparing for the 2016 Olympics: Eight-Nation tournament Bor Serbia
The highly occupied eight-Nation tournament in Bor Serbia was won by Greece. After the regular time the score was 9-9.
So penalties were required to identify the winner: 14-15.
Serbia team started well and led 4-1 after the first period. In the second period the Greek answer was at least as strong: 4-5.
Backed by a large and enthusiastic audience Serbia tried pulling the game again to themselves. However, the defence of Serbia
had the entire second half of the game, their hands full with the strong attack of Greece. After a 9-9 final score had penalty throws
to determine who would be the winner. In this thriller Greece finally showed the strongest and won eventually with 14-15.
In the match for the seventh place France defeated Japan: 10-9. In the battle for fifth place Brazil and Spain fought for the honor.
The Brazilians won under the leadership of the former goalkeeper of Serbia – Slobodan Soro – with 9-10.
The match for the bronze went between Italy and Montenegro. The Montenegrins started better and led off with 5-7.
But then followed an excellent half of the Italian “Settebello”: 6: 1. That was finally enough for a 11-8 victory.
